Digital businesses don’t lead by accident — they disrupt deliberately.

Today’s real disruption opportunity is that every business has the opportunity to be a digital business.

Gartner defines a “digital business” is an organization whose product set and business model are activated through the sole use of information and digital technology. At Broadcom, it’s our vision to deliver a Digital Business Platform — automation.ai — that will enable the world’s largest companies to exploit the latest digital technologies to create a robust new digital business model and move beyond digital transformation to digital success.

The key ingredient in our automation.ai platform? Artificial intelligence and machine learning. AI was cited as the #1 game-changing technology (26%)  followed closely by data and predictive analytics (24%) in Gartner’s 2019 CIO Survey. These game changing technologies are transforming the role of predictive analytics through the power of collective intelligence.

Collective intelligence yields invaluable advantages as you look to break through legacy silos, fueling true, efficient and meaningful collaboration. AI is most powerful when combined with automation so that the insights gained from this collective intelligence can be rapidly executed upon. Automation.ai delivers invaluable insights that fuel optimized operations and service levels and by leveraging the autonomous remediation capabilities, your teams can quickly execute common tasks without human intervention.

If you think about the insect world, and a swarm of bees or a colony of ants, you can understand the power of collective intelligence. Consider how massive numbers of individual insects can be so connected, so efficient and so focused on a singular goal. Apply that to the realm of IT operations, and you get a picture of what’s possible with automation.ai.

automation.ai empowers your teams to develop and deliver digital services and apps, and deliver them with reliability, scalability, security and compliance in multi-cloud distributed IT environments through:

  • Scale. We support the largest scale enterprise environments.
  • Openness. We embrace open source software as a source of innovation and integrate with third party tools and solutions.
  • Flexibility. We support hybrid IT and multi-cloud environments.
  • Depth and breadth. We take a comprehensive approach that addresses all areas of your DevOps lifecycle.

Automation.ai’s architecture is built on top of a powerful analytics engine that leverages open source technologies, such as Elasticsearch, Apache Kafka and Apache Spark. The platform can

ingest more than six terabytes of data per day and retain more than 100 terabytes, while enabling sub second query response times.

We began our journey towards automation.ai through the pioneering launch of our AIOps platform which ingests and stores the widest range of data sets and data types, including topological data, alarm metrics, log files, configuration management databases and more. These different, disparate data sets are normalized and correlated using our patented machine learning algorithms. Through this correlation, your teams can intelligently identify the true cause of issues and automatically remediate them, rather than simply tracking symptoms.

To support this advanced machine learning, only our AIOps platform offers a topology analytics service that automatically discovers and maps key IT assets and stores topology information in a graphic database. This service uniquely consumes data and correlate intelligence from multiple architectural layers to effectively determine the probable cause.

Automation is key to AIOps and our solution provides auto-remediation of common IT problems and introducing the concept of self healing apps. It can automatically execute the remediation tasks required in your complex, dynamic enterprise stack. Unlike other AIOps vendors, we deliver highly reliable, scalable automation that features support for real-time, data-driven remedial, and service-driven IT workflows as part of our core platform.

Our contextual automation seamlessly supports complex, organization-specific processes. For example, our AIOps platform may detect an impending storage issue in an Amazon Web Services EC2 instance and trigger the provision of an additional instance. This server provisioning may need approval, for example from a budgetary, compliance or business perspective. These types of approval workflows should be easily accommodated. By leveraging these capabilities, your teams can ensure that service requests aren’t just logged—they are acted upon before the end user has a negative experience.

As a recognized leader in AIOps, we’ve laid the foundation for automation.ai, a broader initiative spanning AIOps, Automation, Service Management, Continuous Testing, Security and Mainframe. Broadcom is known as an innovation-driven company. We are applying that engineering investment and focus to double-down on innovations that will help the world’s largest companies move beyond digital transformation to digital success.
